Going indie: running a small creative business

I spent five years, from 2018 to 2023, running my own one-person design business.

Consulting was a gift. It gave me excitement, challenge, and the best income of any job I’ve ever had. More importantly, it gave me control of how I spend my time, and the flexibility to travel and start new projects in a way that I never could before.

Occasionally someone will ask me for advice on how to go independent. This book is my answer. I’m always excited to pass on “the knowledge”, just as others did for me.

If you have professional expertise, especially if you’re somebody who doesn’t fit the traditional picture of a “consultant”, I encourage you to read on and consider going independent.
